VeraTracer documentation
VeraTracer is a checkpoint-based platform for data work. You describe a workflow in VeraScript, run it, and every step becomes a point you can inspect, branch from, or return to without recomputing the rest.
Getting startedInstall VeraTracer Desktop, open a project, and run your first workflow end to end.CheckpointsHow VeraTracer turns each step into a restore point, and how to re-run just a range.VeraScript referenceThe statements available today — load.csv, filter, select and export.csv.
How the pieces fit
There are three things to know about, and they stack in this order:
- VeraScript is the language. One statement per step, each step producing a named value.
- Checkpoints are what VeraTracer records as those steps run, so state can be restored rather than recomputed.
- A runtime executes the script — today that is VeraTracer Desktop on your own machine.
A workflow in full
This is the script a new project opens with. It runs as-is against the sample data that ships with the app:
// Welcome to VeraTracer Desktop.
// Press Run (Cmd/Ctrl+R) — this workflow works as-is against
// data/customers.csv.
let raw = load.csv("data/customers.csv")
let active = filter(raw, status, "active")
let report = select(active, [id, name, region])
export.csv(report, "data/active-customers.csv")Four statements, four checkpoints. Read Getting started to run it yourself.
Status of this documentation
These pages cover what VeraTracer Desktop does today. Hosted runs and the connector library are still in development, and their reference pages will land as those surfaces ship.
