Terms of use
The agreement between you and NML covering VeraTracer Desktop and this website. Last updated 24 August 2026.
1. Who these terms are with
“We” and “us” mean NML, the provider of VeraTracer. “You” means the person or organisation using VeraTracer Desktop or this website. Using either means you accept these terms; if you do not, please do not use them.
2. What we currently provide
VeraTracer Desktop is a desktop application that runs on your own machine. It is provided free of charge and does not require an account. Hosted runs, connectors and any other server-side capability are not yet available, and nothing on this website should be read as a commitment to deliver them on a particular date or on particular terms.
The software is pre-release. It may contain defects, and behaviour may change between versions.
3. Your licence to use the software
We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use VeraTracer Desktop for your own purposes, including commercial ones, subject to these terms.
You may not:
- redistribute, sell or sublicense the software as your own product;
- reverse engineer it except where that right cannot lawfully be restricted;
- remove or obscure any notice of ownership; or
- use it to break the law or to infringe someone else's rights.
4. Your data and your content
The files you open, the workflows you write and the results you produce are yours. We claim no ownership of them and no licence over them.
Because the desktop application runs locally and cannot transmit data to us, we do not hold your content and cannot recover it for you. Backups are your responsibility. See the privacy policy and security page for how this works.
5. Our intellectual property
We retain all rights in VeraTracer, including the software, the VeraScript language, the documentation, the branding and this website, other than the rights expressly granted to you above.
6. Availability and changes
We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of VeraTracer, including making a currently free capability paid. Where a change materially affects you we will give reasonable notice through this website rather than making it silently. Continuing to use the product after a change takes effect means you accept it.
7. No warranty
The software is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error free, or that results it produces will be accurate or suitable for a given decision.
You are responsible for checking outputs before relying on them, particularly where a result informs a financial, legal, clinical or similarly consequential decision.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, nor for loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill or anticipated savings, arising from your use of or inability to use VeraTracer.
Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, our total aggregate liability is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the product in the twelve months before the claim, or USD 100.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
9. Ending the agreement
You may stop using VeraTracer at any time by uninstalling it. We may end your licence if you breach these terms. Sections 4, 5, 7, 8 and 10 survive termination.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania, where NML is registered, and the courts of Tanzania have exclusive jurisdiction — except where mandatory consumer protection law in your country of residence gives you the right to bring proceedings locally.
